My name is Angela Layampa. I was born in Bogota, Colombia on May 24, 1981. When I was twelve, we moved to the United States, Greenport, New York. I completed my studies at Greenport High School and graduated with an honors diploma on 1999. Soon, I started to attend the Ammerman Campus at the Suffolk Community College located in Selden, New York.

In October 10, of the year 2000, I decided to join the Air Force as Combat Medic serving Active Duty for six years. I did my military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, following my Technical/Medical Studies as an Emergency Technician at Sheppard Air Force Base. I was finally stationed permanently at Andrews Air Force, Maryland; this base is known as the “presidential base” since it supports Air Combat Support directly for the President of the United States. Unfortunately, with only one year as a new Airman, our Country was attacked in the worse way on September 11, 2001. My medical Unit, the 79th Medical Wing provided support to New York City as well as the Pentagon which was just hit just miles away from our base. While on Active Duty, I served in different inpatient and outpatient units within the Malcolm Grow Medical Hospital including, Oncology/Hematology; Labor & Delivery; Emergency Room; ICU and finally the Aeromedical Staging Facility (ASF), which was in charge of the missions coming with injured soldiers from the Middle East. During my tour in the ASF, I was recognized with honors for an outstanding job as “48” (person in charge of the ground missions) for completing with efficacy and excellence the care and transport of wounded soldiers, some on just ventilators, to different military hospitals within the United States.

In October 11, 2006, I left my military career to join the civilian world with the focus of studying Psychology/Counseling to help those in distress, especially PTSD since this was and is very dear to my heart due to my military experienced. I am currently enrolled in Light University, under the School of Counseling and Psychology aiming at Advanced Diploma in Biblical Counseling.

In October 3, 2009, I had the honor and privileged of meeting Pastors Raymond and Monica Jaquez for the first time and my life was never the same. On this particular day, I gave my life to Christ and ever since this; I have been serving the church and the community for the past seven and half years next to them. I currently served in the capacity of Deacon in the Church and I’m one of the Program Coordinators for the Love Without Barriers Foundation JCL.
